"What we hear does not bode well"...Kharis: Mechanics Committee "Doesn't exist" virtually

During a memorial ceremony held in the town of Burj Rahal, MP Ali Khreis, a member of the “Liberation and Development” bloc, explained that things were not going well. He believed that some people’s justification for the Israeli aggression against Lebanon was considered a real disaster, and called on everyone to unite to confront the Israeli dangers threatening the country.

Khreis also stated that the main goal of establishing the Mechanics Committee was to activate Resolution 1701, but he stressed that this committee is completely ineffective, and he wondered: “Villages are bombed, homes are destroyed, and people are killed without anyone doing anything. So where is this committee? And has it been cancelled?” He considered this matter to be the responsibility of the countries that supervised this agreement.

He added that the pressures aim to abandon our principles and hostility to Israel, but stressed that it will remain “absolute evil” for us, and that dealing with it is “forbidden.”

He stressed that the region is going through a difficult stage, and that there are major divisions at the internal level, stressing the need to unify ranks, bring the situation together, and build a strong and just state that supports its people. He asked: “Where is the state today with what is happening in the south and the repeated attacks, and where is the reconstruction?”

In conclusion, Khreis said that this issue raises great concern, and that they will not allow the situation to continue as it is, noting that Prime Minister Nabih Berri “is working continuously and following up on the issue of reconstruction, as are many other issues,” stressing that what is required today is the state’s presence in the south and its support for the citizens.
