But another specter looms on the horizon: a doping crisis that could end his football career completely.
Journalist Ahmed Shoubir explained that accepting the appeal means the end of the case legally, as the implementation of the prison sentence was suspended for 3 years. With the end of the forgery case, Ramadan Sobhi still faces the risk of a 4-year suspension due to the “doping sample” case. The matter is either to accept the appeal and cancel the penalty, or to reject it permanently and confirm the suspension.
For his part, Hani Zahran, the player’s lawyer, acknowledged the difficulty of the situation before the Swiss judiciary, but stressed that the defense team relied on weaknesses in the merits of the CAS ruling related to the mechanism of tampering with the sample. Zahran stated that the appeal was officially submitted last Monday, expressing his hope that the case would be returned to CAS for reconsideration.
