Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today that Israel has turned the page on two years of what he called the “War of Redemption,” considering that this war has revealed “remarkable achievements” and excelled in directing strikes at opponents.
Netanyahu pointed out that what surprises the foreign leaders he meets is that most of the combat force consists of reserve soldiers, noting that the conscripts and the regular army are doing a “wonderful” job, but the most striking element is the participation of hundreds of thousands of reserve soldiers in combat and support.
He stated that these people “give everything they have,” stressing the need for the state to provide them “everything.” In this context, he announced that the government had approved, following previous grants provided to soldiers and their families, an additional support plan for reserve soldiers for the coming year.
He explained that the value of this plan amounts to 6.2 billion shekels, and will be based on rewarding individuals according to the nature of their service, with priority given to combat soldiers on the front lines, stressing that the state “will continue to stand by them and support them.”
Netanyahu concluded by thanking the Ministers of Finance and Defense for what he described as “excellent and integrated” work to accelerate the approval of this support.
