In light of the accident that occurred yesterday involving the paraglider pilots and their emergency landing in the Harissa area, sources reported that the Jounieh Platoon, upon the direction of the Public Prosecutor of Appeal, Judge Ghassan Bassil, summoned Christophe Habis, Habib Mounot, and Ahmed Abdel Hay (Syrian nationality) to testify about the circumstances of the accident.
The sources added that the investigation included forcing the pilots to sign a written pledge to refrain from practicing paragliding until the end of the investigations, while keeping them under investigation.
In parallel, the security forces closed the take-off platform in the Harissa area with red wax, after it was revealed that the land on which the platform was built belongs to the Bolsiya Monastery, and is being invested by Elie Mansour and Raja Saadeh (Thermique Club) without obtaining the necessary legal licenses. The preliminary investigation revealed that the activity was being carried out in violation of the approved procedures, as in such cases it is necessary to obtain approval from both the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, represented by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of National Defence, especially when the activity includes transporting people or is carried out in exchange for financial compensation.
This judicial measure comes in the absence of any urgent steps by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which limited itself to issuing a statement announcing the postponement of any official position until Monday. As a result, the Public Prosecution intervened directly, and the platform was closed with red wax, with an official correspondence sent to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to request clarification of its position on the case.
