Barça is on the verge of a decisive phase.

Spanish media reported today, Thursday, on an expected competition for the position of president of FC Barcelona before the elections scheduled for March 15th.

According to the Catalan radio station “RAC 1”, the current president, Joan Laporta, made his decision several months ago, announcing his intention to run for a new term in May after winning the Spanish League title, the team’s third title of that season.

Laporta affirmed at that time that what had been achieved within the club was “a very good job,” considering that the current board of directors “deserves to continue.”

On the other hand, Victor Font began his election campaign early, relying on Xavi Hernández, the coach and former star of Barcelona, as a supporting figure in his project.

In November, Font revealed his new project under the name “Nosaltres,” which is an alliance that includes several orientations and visions within the Catalan club. During an event held at the Barcelona exhibition with the presence of between 500 and 1000 people, he affirmed that “Barça, when it belongs to everyone, becomes invincible.”

“RAC 1” pointed out that the list of potential candidates also includes Marc Ciria, who is running for election through his project “Moviment 42”, in addition to Xavi Vilajoana, former player and administrator at Barcelona.
