Microsoft has released an essential and exceptional update, following the discovery of some issues in the latest January 2026 security update for the Windows operating system. This update aims to address critical errors that have appeared on some Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices.
Some Windows 11 users have experienced unexpected device restarts when trying to shut down or put the device into “hibernation” mode. This update is specifically aimed at devices that rely on the “Secure Boot” feature, a protection feature designed to prevent attacks targeting programs during the startup process.
In addition, some users reported difficulties logging into their devices through remote connection applications. Microsoft explained that the reason for this is due to “incorrect credential entry,” and that the new update restores the ability to log in normally.
Despite this update, some issues that appeared in the December 2026 update still exist, such as “blank screens” or “Outlook Classic program stops working.” As for users who do not prefer to upgrade to Windows 11, they can continue to benefit from “Extended Security Updates for Windows 10” for a longer period.
