
Banque du Liban issued an official statement categorically denying the incorrect news and rumors circulating in some media outlets and elsewhere regarding any type of negotiations, discussions, or communications, whether direct or indirect, formal or informal, regarding the sale of “Middle East Airlines” whether in full or in part.
The central bank affirmed categorically that no such discussion or communication has been, nor is currently being, conducted with any party whatsoever, whether a natural person or a legal entity, local or foreign, neither at present nor in the near future.
The statement clarified that these allegations are nothing more than periodic attempts to ignite rumors in the markets, and are completely false and have no basis in reality.
In conclusion, Banque du Liban called on the media and all users of various platforms to exercise caution and act responsibly and accurately when transmitting news and information, while emphasizing its full legal right to sue anyone who publishes or republishes false information that harms the public interest or the reputation of national institutions.
