أزمة حادة تعصف ب‍"طرابلس".. و"مطر" يتعهد بمتابعة دقيقة

MP Ihab Matar stated via his account on the “X” platform that Tripoli is currently experiencing the most severe water crisis in years, due to the collapse of the rock tunnel that houses the Hab spring, which is a major source of water for a large part of the city and its surrounding areas.

Matar affirmed that water is the lifeblood and an absolute necessity for the city, noting that despite the existence of alternative water sources such as the Abu Halqa spring, they are not sufficient to compensate for the shortage caused by the absence of the Hab spring water.

He revealed that he contacted the Director General of the North Lebanon Water Establishment, Professor Khaled Obeid, who explained that the reason behind this problem is the heavy rainfall and floods during the recent storm, and confirmed that rationing is the temporary and only solution in this exceptional period, until a radical solution to the crisis is found.

Matar pointed out that after the institution issued its detailed statement regarding the rationing program, and given the importance of this issue, he decided to cancel all his meetings outside the city tomorrow in order to be able to attend a second meeting in Tripoli, in order to follow up on all developments related to this issue.

In conclusion, he expressed his hope that the city will overcome these emergency circumstances as soon as possible by eliminating their causes, assuring the people of Tripoli of his continuous follow-up on this vital file that affects their daily lives, due to his full awareness of the difficulty of life without water, which he described as a blessing that “revives with its presence and kills us with its absence.”
