An Israeli shell hit a house in the town of Ayta al-Shaab, located in the south.
This attack comes amid a notable Israeli escalation that affected various areas in the south and the Western Bekaa yesterday, Thursday. The Israeli army claimed in a statement that it carried out an airstrike in the Zawtar al-Sharqiya area of southern Lebanon, and indicated that this raid targeted a member of “Hezbollah” on the pretext of his involvement in attempts to rebuild military infrastructure belonging to the party in the area.
According to the Israeli statement, this operation comes within the framework of what it called “preventing the restoration of Hezbollah’s capabilities,” and confirmed the continuation of work to thwart any activity it considers a threat to its security on the northern front.
This was accompanied by a series of airstrikes targeting separate areas in the south and the Western Bekaa, in addition to intensive flights by warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft. Moreover, Israel issued direct warnings to the towns of Sahmar and Mashghara in the Western Bekaa, under the pretext of targeting “military infrastructure,” which led to a state of field tension and anxiety among the residents, in light of the continued tension on the southern front and fears of the expansion of the scope of attacks, despite talk of diplomatic efforts to contain the escalation.
