“Russia Today” reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated during a phone call with his Emirati counterpart, Abdullah bin Zayed, that the recent turbulent events in Iran were due to “Israeli and American incitement to ignite chaos.”
During the call, the two sides discussed developments on the regional and international levels, in addition to bilateral relations between the two countries. Araqchi affirmed that “with the vigilance of the people and security forces, calm has prevailed in the country.”
He also indicated that these disturbances were the result of incitement by “some armed groups” with the support of Israel and the United States, with the aim of creating chaos during peaceful popular demonstrations. He alluded to “provocative statements by American officials that constitute blatant interference in Iran’s internal affairs.”
Araqchi affirmed “the Iranian people’s determination to defend national sovereignty and the country’s security in the face of any evil or external interference.”
For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation to support stability and security in the region, stressing the need for continued consultation between Iran and the UAE and the rest of the countries in the region.
