قماطي: مهمة الجيش "نحن مقاومة لأجل لبنان"

Mahmoud Qamati, Deputy Head of the Political Council in Hezbollah, affirmed in statements to RT that the party has exerted its utmost efforts to reach an understanding with the government, the state, and its institutions, aiming to achieve a Lebanese-Lebanese agreement. However, he noted that some parties are reneging on this understanding, as he put it.

He pointed out the existence of entities insisting on implementing “external dictates” and making concessions to “Israel” freely and without return, adding that the resistance has offered thousands of martyrs as the price for a ceasefire agreement, while the state is abandoning this agreement.

Qamati clarified that the state is abandoning every equation of power achieved by the resistance to protect Lebanon, considering that the army’s mission is not to protect “Israel” from any military action launched from Lebanon, but to confront “Israel,” which occupies Lebanese territories.

He criticized the statements issued by the President and the Prime Minister regarding confining weapons north of the Litani River, considering that this direction means that the government is heading towards chaos, instability, and an unacceptable internal situation.

He continued that some members of the government are unaware of the Israeli expansionist goals in Lebanon and believe that more concessions may achieve peace, while he believes that others are complicit and aware of the American-Israeli plan and are working within it to achieve personal gains.

Qamati called for reason and wisdom and to conduct a Lebanese-Lebanese dialogue, warning that the path of the government and the pillars of the Lebanese state may push the country towards instability and chaos, and perhaps a civil war, in light of what he described as “a certain performance and external hegemony over the government.”

He explained that Hezbollah represents a minority within the government and objects, but decisions are made despite this, stressing that the Lebanese army and its leadership are aware and will not confront its people, and that the resistance will not be drawn into a confrontation with the army.

He concluded by saying, “Return to your minds and balance, and let us understand each other,” stressing that there is no room for talk or dialogue about any situation north of the Litani River before “Israel’s” withdrawal from all Lebanese territories, the liberation of the south, the release of prisoners, and the cessation of violating Lebanon.

He believes that the only solution to maintain Lebanon’s stability is to reach a defensive strategy, considering that the biggest crime that the state can commit is to make a decision related to weapons north of the Litani River, because it represents the consolidation of occupation and acceptance of it, and a direct targeting of the resistance’s weapons.

He stressed that the party’s primary concern is Lebanon and defending it in the face of the existential dangers surrounding it, and what he described as “the dangers of extermination and displacement from the south,” stressing that the resistance is a force that exists for Lebanon.

He called for working on restricting weapons with other parties, not with Hezbollah, through “American, European, and Israeli dictates,” stressing that the party will not accept that the army be an executive tool in the hands of “Israel” through the “mechanism committee,” and that the army, in turn, will not accept that.

In another context, Qamati affirmed that the resistance in Lebanon existed before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and that Iran supported the resistance, pointing out that Iran is fine and that the regime has renewed its popular strength again.
