MP Elias Hankach wrote on his “X” platform account a post, affirming his support for what he saw as a positive outcome achieved during the first year, pointing to the need to achieve more progress in the next stage.
Hankach added: “You promised a lot, and you achieved a large part of it in your first year, and we will remain by your side so that the future will be more,” addressing a message to the skeptics, mentioning a series of points that he considered among the most important achievements that have been made.
He explained that among these steps are disarming Hezbollah south of the Litani and preparing to disarm it north of the Litani, in addition to controlling the borders, fighting corruption, terrorism, smuggling, appointing a prime minister and forming a Council of Ministers.
He also pointed to the completion of security appointments, the appointment of regulatory bodies, the approval of the independence of the judiciary, combating money laundering, implementing international resolutions, combating drug trafficking, demarcating borders with Cyprus, and activating foreign relations.
He concluded by listing additional steps that included conducting judicial formations, activating the work of security agencies, and starting to disarm Palestinian camps.
This position of Hankach comes in the midst of the wide political and media discussion that accompanied the passing of a year since the beginning of the term of President of the Republic Joseph Aoun, where the Media Office in the Presidency of the Republic published during the past days a detailed report that included the outcome of the first year of the term, and a direct comparison between what was stated in the inaugural address and what was actually implemented.
