The Nobel Committee has ended the controversy surrounding the possibility of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to US President “Donald Trump,” after Venezuelan opposition leader “Maria Corina Machado” announced her willingness to do so. The committee confirmed the impossibility of transferring, canceling, or dividing the prize.
In an official statement, the committee clarified that “The Nobel Prize cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred to any other party, and once the winner is announced, the prize remains valid forever.” This statement came as a decisive response to the proposal that sparked widespread controversy and criticism.
It is noteworthy that “Machado” had stated to Fox News that she was ready to hand over the prize she received, in appreciation of “Trump’s” role in the arrest of Venezuelan President “Nicolás Maduro.” However, the Nobel Committee confirmed that the prize regulations do not allow any changes after the winner is announced.
In another context, on January 3, the United States carried out a military operation in Venezuela that led to the arrest of “Maduro” and his wife and their transfer to New York to be tried on charges of “narcoterrorism,” charges they denied. The operation led to a temporary transfer of power to Vice President “Delcy Rodríguez,” amid widespread international condemnation from countries such as Russia, China, and North Korea, which saw this US action as a violation of international law.
With this announcement, the Nobel Committee has decisively settled the matter, confirming that its decision on the prize is final and irreversible, and has closed the door to any attempt to change its course or redistribute it.
