The Syndicate of Information Technology expressed its appreciation for the participation of the official Lebanese delegation in the negotiations of the World Summit on the Information Society WSIS+20, held at the United Nations headquarters, praising in particular the role played by the head of the delegation, “Charbel Chehayeb.” The Syndicate considered that his presence and speech reflect a developed national vision in the field of digital transformation and Internet governance.
The Syndicate stressed that Lebanon’s representation in this international forum at this high level of competence and experience is a positive step, and highlights once again Lebanon’s ability to contribute effectively to the formulation of global digital policies.
The Syndicate praised the proposal presented by “Chehayeb,” which is based on partnership between the three sectors: public, private, and civil society, considering that this proposal is in line with the best international practices and represents a solid foundation for building a sustainable digital system.
It also praised his efforts in presenting the challenges facing Lebanon with transparency and realism, while emphasizing the opportunities available and the definite desire for advancement, as well as conveying the voice of the Lebanese technology sector to international forums.
In conclusion, the Syndicate affirmed its full support for all initiatives aimed at strengthening the Lebanese presence at the international level, and expressed its readiness to cooperate with “Chehayeb” and the concerned official bodies to translate this participation into practical policies and programs that support the information technology sector and the digital economy in Lebanon.
