صفقة "نفط مقابل سلع": ترامب يفصح عن تفاصيل الاتفاق مع فنزويلا

In a statement on Wednesday evening, US President Donald Trump stated that Venezuela will limit its purchases to American products only, using the revenues it obtains from selling its oil, within the framework of the new oil agreement between the two countries.

Through his account on the “Truth Social” platform, “Trump” wrote: “I have just been informed that Venezuela will only buy American-made products, with the money it receives from the new oil deal.”

He explained that these purchases will include, in addition to others, American agricultural products and medicines, as well as American-made medical devices and equipment, in addition to the equipment necessary to improve the electricity grid and energy facilities in Venezuela.

“Trump” added: “In other words, Venezuela is committed to dealing commercially with the United States of America as its main partner, which is a wise choice and a very good thing for the people of Venezuela and the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Venezuela’s state-owned oil company “PDVSA” announced on Wednesday that it was holding talks with the United States regarding oil sales, following the arrest of the ousted President “Nicolás Maduro,” and “Trump’s” statements that Washington would manage the marketing of Venezuelan oil.

The company said in a statement that it is “currently negotiating with the United States to sell quantities of oil within the framework of the existing trade relations between the two countries,” explaining that the process is taking place according to models similar to those followed with global companies such as “Chevron,” and on a basis of pure trade exchange that is in line with standards of law, transparency and mutual interest.

“PDVSA” also affirmed its commitment to “continue building alliances that enhance national development, in the interest of the Venezuelan people and contribute to establishing stability.”

In contrast, the acting Venezuelan President “Delcy Rodríguez” had affirmed on Tuesday that “there is no foreign client governing Venezuela,” while “Trump” stated that Caracas would hand over tens of millions of barrels of oil to the United States.

For his part, US Energy Secretary “Chris Wright” announced on Wednesday that Washington will manage Venezuelan oil sales “for an indefinite period.”

It is noteworthy that Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, exceeding 303 billion barrels, according to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, surpassing both Saudi Arabia and Iran, but its production remains low at about one million barrels per day, as a result of decades of underinvestment in infrastructure and US sanctions, according to experts’ opinions.
