Meta announced during CES 2026 that it is postponing the launch of its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Canada, citing “unprecedented demand and limited inventory.”
The company did not specify a new date for the international expansion, which was scheduled for early 2026, and stated in its blog that it will continue to focus on fulfilling orders in the United States, while reconsidering its plans to make the product available globally.
Since the launch of Meta’s display glasses, consumers have faced difficulty in obtaining them, as they are not sold online, but are only available in a limited number of selected retail stores in the United States, including some branches of Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters, and Best Buy.
To purchase these glasses, an appointment must be booked in advance to try the product in one of these stores via the Meta website. Prior to the launch, the company noted a “strong” demand for display sessions, with appointments booked weeks in advance.
The availability of the glasses was expected to gradually increase, with Meta anticipating expanding purchasing options over time, but the postponement of the international launch indicates a continuing gap between supply and demand.
The Ray-Ban Display glasses sell for $799 and are Meta’s first glasses with a front-facing display, in addition to a camera, two stereo speakers, six microphones, WiFi 6 support, and a controller based on finger tracking via a neural bracelet. (اليوم السابع)
