A massive fire broke out in a sawmill in the town of Marwaniyeh, affiliated with the Sidon district, and completely consumed it. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Civil Defense personnel rushed to the scene of the fire and were able to contain and extinguish the flames.
The causes of the fire at the sawmill are still unknown.
In other news, the “General Directorate of Civil Defense” announced that its personnel were able to extinguish a fire that broke out in a house in the Al-Sarai neighborhood at 3:50 PM. A statement issued by the “Department of Information and Public Relations in the Civil Defense” stated that the owner of the house, who is in her eighties, died of suffocation as a result of smoke inhalation. The body was transferred to the hospital, while the “competent security authorities” began their investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
