Florentino Pérez Honors Vinícius Júnior Despite Tension Between the Two Parties
Brazilian star Vinícius Júnior reached a milestone in his career with Real Madrid, achieving 150 victories in La Liga wearing the royal team’s jersey, after the big 5-1 win against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Vinícius is in his eighth season with Real Madrid, having played 225 matches in La Liga since his first appearance with the first team on September 29, 2018, in the Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid. He has scored 66 goals and contributed to winning the title 3 times in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
After the Real Betis match, Florentino Pérez, the club’s president, honored Vinícius at the Bernabéu, where they appeared holding a Real Madrid jersey with Vinícius’s name and the number 150 on it, in a picture that attracted attention.
Despite the celebratory atmosphere, the relationship between Pérez and Vinícius remains tense, due to their ongoing disagreement regarding the renewal of the player’s contract to date, making the honor seem like “fire under the ashes.”
While Vinícius continues to carve his name into the history of modern Real Madrid, his future remains uncertain.
