Issued by the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, a statement was released, stating: “Today, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the fifth phase of the weapons handover process inside the Palestinian camps was completed, as the Palestinian National Security Forces completed the handover of a new batch of heavy weapons belonging to the “Palestine Liberation Organization” in the Ain al-Hilweh camp – Sidon, which was placed in the custody of the Lebanese army. This operation constitutes an additional milestone in the gradual path aimed at completely ending the Palestinian weapons file.”
In the details of the statement, the committee clarified that “this path is based on the constants of the Lebanese state that were emphasized in the inaugural address, the ministerial statement of the Lebanese government, and the cabinet decision issued on August 5, 2025, as well as the joint presidential statement issued on May 21, which stressed the full sovereignty of the Lebanese state, the exclusivity of weapons in its hands, and the need to end the Palestinian weapons file outside the framework of legitimacy.”
The committee affirmed that “Palestinian weapons inside the camps have become a burden on Palestinians as well as Lebanese, and are no longer an element of protection, but rather a factor of tension that harms the camps and their surroundings and hinders the improvement of living and social conditions,” and stressed at the same time that “this path constitutes a fundamental entry point for consolidating security and stability,” and renewed “its commitment to continuing the weapons handover process according to the approved plan until this file is completely ended, in a way that enshrines the sovereignty of the Lebanese state.”
The Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee also reaffirmed “its firm belief in dialogue and communication with all Palestinian political and community forces,” noting “that this approach cannot turn into a cover for procrastination or postponing commitments.”
The statement concluded by saying: “Accordingly, it affirms that the Palestinian forces that declare their commitment to the ceiling of the Lebanese state are required to move from declared positions to practical implementation, as respect for sovereignty is not formal or selective, but rather requires clear compliance with state decisions and the immediate start of handing over weapons without conditions or pretexts, through direct coordination with the Lebanese army, similar to what the Palestine Liberation Organization did.”
