بيع أسهم بلدية بيروت في سوليدير: اعتداء على حقوق سكان العاصمة

The General Coordinator of the “Future Movement” in Beirut, Mohammad Yamout, issued a statement in which he expressed his concern about “a tendency aimed at selling the Beirut Municipality’s shares in the “Solidere” company, considering that “this dangerous step constitutes a direct assault on the rights of the people of the capital and the national legacy of the martyred President Rafik Hariri.”

Yamout added, saying: “The martyred President Rafik Hariri granted the city of Beirut, through its municipality, more than two million shares in Solidere, and President Saad Hariri followed his example in preserving this trust, and refused to give it up or prejudice the rights of the city and its people.”

Yamout also clarified “that the current proposal stipulates replacing the Beirut Municipality’s shares with a destroyed building in the heart of the capital, which is considered a rejected and unacceptable path, because of its direct impact on the interests, history and rights of the people of Beirut.”

Yamout concluded his statement by emphasizing that: “The rights of the people of Beirut are not a negotiable commodity nor are they for sale, and Rafik Hariri’s trust must be protected and preserved, not wasted under any pretext.”
