مقديشو تتصدى لإسرائيل دبلوماسيًا: "أرض الصومال" جزء لا يتجزأ من سيادة البلاد!

The Somali Parliament unanimously approved on Sunday a resolution declaring Israel’s recognition of “Somaliland” null and void.

The official Somali News Agency (SONNA) reported that the two houses of the Somali Federal Parliament held an extraordinary session to discuss Israeli recognition, and the session resulted in a collective approval of a resolution rejecting this recognition and prohibiting any infringement on the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia’s territory.

The resolution affirmed that Somalia is a fully sovereign state, a member of the United Nations, and enjoys legal personality and internationally recognized borders, while emphasizing that its territory is indivisible and that the Somali people are a unified nation that does not accept division.

The resolution also clarified that any secessionist claims or international recognition of “Somaliland” has no legal basis.

In the same context, the Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the League of Arab States, and the Somali Ambassador to Cairo, Ali Abdi Aourai, stated earlier on Sunday that his country categorically rejects Israel’s declaration of recognition of the so-called “Somaliland region,” describing this step as null, unacceptable, and without any legal effect.

Aourai explained that the northwestern part of Somalia, known as “Somaliland,” represents an integral part of Somali territory, stressing that Somalia’s national unity is not subject to compromise or fragmentation.

He pointed out that this Israeli move falls within the context of a continuous aggressive approach aimed at destabilizing the region, and cannot be separated from Israeli policies towards the Palestinian issue, warning of its effects on Arab national security and the security of navigation in the Red Sea.

The Somali delegate called on Arab countries to adopt a unified and firm Arab position to confront these transgressions, and to work on taking serious measures to prevent their recurrence, stressing that Somalia will not be a party to any schemes aimed at displacing the Palestinian people or threatening the security and stability of the region.
