MP Qassem Hashem, a member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, affirmed that “the government’s financial regulation (financial gap) project did not address the deposit crisis in the way its owners expected, as they immediately considered it unfair, and they rely on a law better than what has been achieved.”
Hashem continued, saying: “No one can outbid our bloc’s position in addressing the deposit crisis. From the first days of addressing this file, we affirmed that deposits are sacred, and this is what Speaker Nabih Berri announced. The discussions were in accordance with this vision and starting point in order to preserve rights, and for those who brought matters to this level to bear full responsibility. This is why the bloc’s ministers’ decision was consistent with the final direction that will be dealt with during any discussion of the law to amend what needs to be amended to deliver the deposits to the depositors, otherwise we will confront any direction to burden the depositors with any loss, and work to return them within acceptable deadlines.”
