عام 2025: تراجع مقلق في 8 أمراض معدية عالميًا مع استمرار القلق من تفشيها

Despite the decline in global concern regarding the Coronavirus that dominated the health scene in recent years, the danger remains due to the outbreak of many diseases in different countries.

So, what are the most prominent diseases that spread in 2025?

1- Bird Flu

The bird flu virus raised global concerns after recording human deaths in the United States.

The Washington State Department of Health reported that a resident of the state was being treated for the “H5N5” strain of bird flu and died, recording the first confirmed human case of this mutated strain worldwide.

In addition, the virus spread in European farms in countries such as France, Bulgaria, and Germany.

2- Measles

The United States witnessed hundreds of measles infections in several southern states.

This outbreak is attributed to low vaccination rates.

Morocco also faced this year the disease “Bouhamroun,” also known as measles, which witnessed a wide spread that prompted health authorities to declare it an “epidemic.”

Morocco has recorded 25,000 cases since September 2023, compared to three to four cases annually in previous years, according to a previous statement by the director of the Directorate of Epidemiology and Disease Control at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Mohamed El Youbi, in addition to the death of more than 100 people due to this disease.

3- Ebola

Since the end of last January, the Ebola virus has spread in Uganda.

It also appeared in Congo during the summer months.

4- Malaria

Sudan recorded thousands of cases of malaria.

The Sudanese Ministry of Health attributed the high rates of infection to the proliferation of disease vectors, weak control programs, in addition to the widespread displacement that led to overcrowding in areas lacking basic services.

5- Cholera

Yemen witnessed an increasing outbreak of the cholera epidemic this year, amid the collapse of the health system and water contamination.

Data from the World Health Organization showed that cholera is spreading rapidly in Yemen during the current year, as a result of conflict and poverty, with more than 200 deaths and thousands of infections recorded.

6- Marburg

The deadly Marburg virus broke out in Ethiopia this year, according to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Marburg causes severe bleeding, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, and its incubation period ranges from 21 days.

This virus is transmitted through contact with bodily fluids, and the mortality rate ranges between 25 and 80%.

7- Tuberculosis

The World Health Organization confirmed that tuberculosis remains the deadliest infectious disease in the world, claiming the lives of nearly 1.23 million people last year, warning that recent gains in combating it remain fragile.

8- “HMPV” Virus

The World Health Organization provided assurances regarding the “HMPV” virus, a respiratory infection spreading in China, confirming that the virus is not new or particularly dangerous.

But in return, cases of infection with this virus have been recorded in several countries, including Egypt.

9- Monkeypox

Monkeypox continued to record infections this year, with Sierra Leone recording its first case of monkeypox.

However, the World Health Organization announced this year that monkeypox is no longer a global health emergency.
