Dr. Hani held a separate meeting with Dr. Saud Al-Habsi, Minister of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of the Director-General of the Ministry and a number of department directors, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance agricultural cooperation and develop the scope of partnership between them.
Minister Hani stated after the meeting that activating the direct flight line between Beirut and Muscat with two flights per week represents “an important opportunity to increase the volume of agricultural exchange and facilitate the flow of products between the two countries,” stressing “the importance of supporting small farmers and promoting cooperative experiences, which are a fundamental pillar for the advancement of the Lebanese agricultural sector.”
For his part, Minister Al-Habsi expressed his country’s readiness to expand cooperation in the areas of “agricultural research and laboratories, fish farming, and fish resources,” pointing out that the Sultanate of Oman “welcomes Lebanese investments in its agricultural sector while providing the necessary facilities for their success.”
The two sides also announced the completion of the drafting of a “joint agricultural cooperation agreement to be officially signed in March 2026,” to serve as a solid foundation for launching a new phase of exchange, expertise, and investments in the agricultural and food sectors, in the interest of the two brotherly peoples.
This visit comes within the framework of the official Lebanese efforts aimed at reactivating Arab relations and opening new markets for agricultural products, in conjunction with the economic difficulties facing Lebanon and the need to strengthen sustainable development partnerships.
