محافظ ريف دمشق: عمليات البحث عن المفقودين متواصلة منذ عهد النظام السابق

Rif Dimashq Governor, Amer Al-Sheikh, clarified that the governorate still faces great difficulties, foremost of which is the large number of people who are still missing as a result of what he described as “the crimes of the former regime.”

Al-Arabiya channel mentioned that efforts are continuing to address the issue of the displaced and reconstruction, while confirming that there are no sectarian problems within the governorate’s borders.

Al-Sheikh affirmed that what happened in the Beit Jann area is a “blatant attack,” noting that teams from the governorate made an inspection visit to the families affected by these events.

He also affirmed that the residents of Mount Hermon “do not carry any agendas as Israel claims,” stressing that the highest priority at the present time is to improve the level of services provided to citizens.

In a related context, it is noted that Israeli forces infiltrated on the sixth of this month into the western Al-Kroum area surrounding the town of Beit Jann in the western Rif Dimashq countryside, and fired intermittently into the air with the aim of intimidating livestock herders and keeping them away from the area, in addition to establishing a barrier at the site and preventing traffic.

It is worth mentioning that the town of Beit Jann, located on the slopes of Mount Hermon and about 10 kilometers from the border with the occupied Golan, which is subject to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, witnessed clashes between Israeli soldiers and residents of the village at the end of last month, specifically on November 29, 2025, which resulted in the death of 13 Syrian civilians, in addition to the injury of a number of Israeli soldiers.
