In a post on the “Truth Social” social media platform on Monday, “Trump” stated that Mexico had not supplied the United States with sufficient quantities of water, which endangers livestock in the state of Texas. This warning comes after demands from Texas legislators to put pressure on the neighboring country.
Under an agreement concluded in 1944, Mexico must deliver water from the eastern basin of the Rio Grande River to the United States, in exchange for obtaining water from the western Colorado River, in order to share the limited water resources between the two countries on the border. Disputes over these quotas have been repeated, especially during periods of drought.
“Trump” currently claims that Mexico has not fulfilled its pledges over the past five years, and owes approximately one billion cubic meters of water. He demanded the release of approximately a quarter of this amount by December 31, with the remaining amount to be delivered shortly thereafter.
