Apple has announced the beta version of the “watchOS 26.2” update, the upcoming version of the “Apple Watch” operating system, which includes an improved safety alert feature. In the United States, the watch will send instant alerts regarding floods, natural disasters, and various emergencies.
According to a report published by 9to5Mac, the update will provide detailed information within the alerts, including maps of affected areas and links to safety guidelines. Receiving alerts directly on the user’s wrist allows them to take quick actions that could save their lives, even when the iPhone is in a bag or in a hard-to-reach place.
The watch also represents a backup alert channel for users who activate silent mode on their phones, increasing the chances of noticing warnings. The detailed formatting in the alert, including maps and links, provides clearer context for assessing the magnitude of risks compared to traditional text alerts.
