Al-Shorouk newspaper stated in its report that this announcement came during the activities of the “EDEX 2025” Defense and Security Industries Exhibition, which was held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center from December 1 to 4, 2025, under the patronage of President “Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.” This achievement is considered a fundamental step towards achieving defense independence, localizing heavy industries, and strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional industrial power.
The ministry affirmed that the development programs witnessed by military factories contributed to doubling the production capacities of armored steel and improving its specifications through:
* “Increasing the thickness from 15 mm to 30 mm.”
* “Expanding the width of the panels from 150 cm to 240 cm.”
The factories are currently working on implementing an additional development plan aimed at reaching greater thicknesses and widths, in order to meet the needs of the Egyptian army and the requirements of future defense projects.
This achievement opens the door for Egypt to enter the armored steel export market with a product that is characterized by high quality and is compatible with international standards, within the framework of a broader strategy aimed at deepening local manufacturing, reducing dependence on imports, strengthening the national economy, and consolidating Egypt’s position as a leading center for military and defense industries in the region.
