Athletic Club v Real Madrid CF - LaLiga EA Sports

Xabi Alonso, the coach of Real Madrid, expressed his overwhelming happiness with his team’s level after the 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in their own stadium, stressing the need to regain the winning rhythm away from home after stumbling in the last three league matches.

In statements made by Alonso during the “press conference” following the match, he stated: “It was an important match, and we wanted to break the negative streak away from our stadium. We played excellently, and perhaps we presented our best match this season, in a difficult stadium like San Mamés, but we must continue on this path.”

The Spanish coach also praised the amazing level presented by his French star, Kylian Mbappé, who scored two goals in Wednesday’s match, saying: “Kylian is in an excellent moment… His movements and harmony with Vinicius were wonderful… The team entered the match with ferocity and great focus, it was important to win today… And now we are thinking about Sunday’s match on our ground (against Celta Vigo).”

Alonso stressed that the presence of Arda Güler and Bellingham together on the field “does not represent any tactical problem,” explaining: “Arda is completely compatible with Bellingham… We have a lot of matches, and his (Güler) sitting on the bench today was a technical decision that concerns this confrontation only.”

He concluded by saying: “The most important thing we came out with today is the performance of the group. The collective quality that the players presented was excellent, and this is what we focus on… Now we go game after game, and starting tomorrow we will think about facing Celta, because the schedule is intense and difficult.”
