FC Barcelona v Athletic Club - LaLiga EA Sports

Hans Flick, Barcelona’s coach, has received optimistic news about “Pedri’s” return to full fitness before the match against Alavés next Saturday. However, on the other hand, he received unfortunate news regarding the injury of “Fermin Lopez” during the team’s training session today, Thursday.

The medical report issued by the Catalan club stated that the player is suffering from a minor injury in his right calf muscle, and the medical staff estimated his period of absence to be about two weeks.

Accordingly, “Fermin” will not be able to participate in Barcelona’s upcoming matches in the Spanish League and the Champions League against Alavés, Atlético Madrid, Real Betis, and Eintracht Frankfurt.

It remains uncertain whether the player will be ready for the Osasuna match scheduled at Spotify Camp Nou on December 13, just two days after the period the club has set for his absence.

This injury is a blow to the German coach, who was seeing a decrease in the number of injured players with the return of “Pedri,” and only had long-term injuries such as those of “Marc-André ter Stegen” and “Gavi.” However, the absence of “Fermin” poses an additional challenge for Flick.

This absence represents a significant loss, especially since the midfielder has been performing excellently this season and was one of the most important solutions in light of the decline in “Dani Olmo’s” level in the first weeks of the season. “Fermin” also showed remarkable effectiveness in front of the goal and succeeded in scoring and creating goals. This is the player’s second injury this season.

This injury comes to add to Barcelona’s suffering, after the 3-0 defeat against Chelsea on Tuesday evening at Stamford Bridge, in the fifth round of the group stage of the Champions League.
