Currently, if a user exits the status editor before publishing it, they lose everything they have written. But the new update will provide a window upon exiting that includes three options: “Save as draft,” “Delete,” or “Continue editing.” When choosing to save the draft, it will appear directly when opening the new status creation screen, eliminating the need to rewrite from scratch.
Despite its usefulness, this feature may raise concerns about storage space, as drafts may accumulate and increase the size of “WhatsApp” data, as is the case in “Instagram.” However, it is expected that the application will add a mechanism to automatically delete old drafts.
The feature seems simple, but it saves a lot of time and enhances the social aspect of “WhatsApp,” especially for status users. So far, there is no official launch date, but indications suggest that the launch is near and may occur in the next stable version.
In parallel, “WhatsApp” continues to test additional features, such as managing multiple accounts on one device, supporting “Apple Watch,” and providing encrypted backups using passkeys to enhance security.
