Following intensive negotiations in Brazil, “Murat Kurum,” the Turkish Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, announced that Turkey has won the right to host and preside over the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP31 next year.

“Kurum” confirmed that Turkey will welcome the leaders of 196 countries to this important global event, noting his country’s commitment to organizing a fair and comprehensive conference that works to unify the efforts of the North and South, with a particular focus on the areas most vulnerable to the repercussions of climate change.

The Minister explained that this achievement is the result of diligent diplomatic efforts, stressing Turkey’s continued efforts to confront climate change through the 2053 vision for carbon neutrality and the “Zero Waste” initiative. He added that Turkey will remain a beacon of hope and confidence in addressing the climate challenges facing the world, expressing his hope that this decision will benefit everyone. (Russia Today)
