سوريا توقع اتفاقية مع شركتين أمريكيتين لزيادة إنتاج الغاز

The “Syrian Petroleum Company” signed a memorandum of understanding with the American companies “ConocoPhillips” and “Novatera” to enhance the gas industry in the country. This cooperation aims to increase gas production from existing fields, in addition to exploring new gas fields.

The CEO of the “Syrian Petroleum Company,” Youssef Kablawi, explained that this agreement is expected to contribute to raising production by an amount ranging between 4 and 5 million cubic meters per day within one year of its start, in addition to developing a new field that may take about three years.

This initiative comes within the framework of Damascus’ efforts to enhance local production and provide the gas necessary for power generation plants, after a significant decrease in production from about 30 million cubic meters per day before 2011 to about 10 million cubic meters currently, while the plants need approximately 18 million cubic meters per day.
