
Al-Hajjar also affirmed that there is no concern on the Lebanese side, but rather a serious desire to strengthen relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, explaining that the security forces are imposing their control over the borders “to a great extent.”
The minister considered the recent Saudi decision “a good message to the whole world and the beginning of the road to Lebanon’s prosperity,” pointing out that Lebanon has achieved remarkable successes in combating drug smuggling operations during the past period.
These statements come after a high-ranking Saudi official, in a special statement to Reuters today, affirmed that the Lebanese government’s efforts to prevent Lebanon from being used as a platform for threats will contribute to improving Saudi-Lebanese relations, indicating that Lebanon has proven its ability to reduce drug smuggling into the Kingdom.
