An English press report stated today, Wednesday, that Barca has set its sights on signing the English international “Harry Kane,” Bayern Munich’s striker and top scorer.
The contract of the Polish “Robert Lewandowski”, Barcelona’s main striker, expires at the end of the current season, and there is no intention to renew his contract due to his age.
“Lewandowski” is 37 years old, and there is great interest from Milan in signing him, whether in next January or at the end of the season.
The British newspaper “The Guardian” reported today, Wednesday, that Barcelona is seeking to sign “Kane” to replace “Lewandowski” – who also joined the Blaugrana from Bayern Munich – starting next season.
The newspaper added that the Catalan club considers signing “Kane” a top priority, especially since he is still at his peak despite approaching his thirty-third year.
“Kane” has scored 26 goals and provided 4 assists in 22 matches so far this season, while he has scored 108 goals in 113 matches during his time at Bayern.
The newspaper pointed out that the English star may leave next summer for only 60 million euros – provided that his club is informed before January – which is an amount affordable for many major European clubs.
“Kane’s” contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2027, that is, after a season and a half, and the Bavarian club has not yet begun trying to renew his contract.
“Lewandowski talks about his future”
For his part, the Polish “Robert Lewandowski”, the Barcelona striker, revealed the latest developments regarding his contract with the Catalan club, which expires at the end of the current season.
“Lewandowski” said, in statements reported by the Catalan newspaper “Sport”: “I don’t know the answer yet, and accordingly, I am not in a hurry to make my decision. I am at peace with myself.”
He added: “The most important thing is that I am in a state of psychological calm, even if the club contacts me now, for example, I will not answer this question, because I also need to determine what is best for me. I am completely calm at the moment, and as I said, I am not in a hurry to make my decision, and I do not expect anything else at the moment.”
“Lewandowski”, 37, achieved a series of distinguished numbers after the wonderful performance he gave during Barcelona’s victory over Celta Vigo with a score of (4-2), where he scored a historic hat-trick, through which he confirmed his place among the most prominent scorers in the European leagues.
According to the “Opta” statistics network, “Lewandowski” became the third oldest player to score a hat-trick in La Liga history in the 21st century, at the age of 37 years and 80 days, behind Jorge Molina (39 years and 241 days) against Mallorca in 2021, and Joaquin Sanchez (38 years and 140 days) against Athletic Bilbao in 2019.
Barcelona’s defense declines
In another context, the network highlighted the recent decline in the level of Barcelona’s defense, as the team conceded at least one goal in its last 10 matches in all competitions, for a total of 18 goals.
This is the team’s worst defensive streak since March 2013, when it failed to keep a clean sheet in 13 consecutive matches.
On the other hand, “Marcus Rashford” continued to shine during his first season with Barcelona, where he became the player with the most assists in La Liga this season (6 assists), equally with the Spaniard Luis Milla, confirming his great offensive value in the squad of coach Hans Flick.
Barcelona took advantage of their rival Real Madrid’s goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano, and achieved victory over Celta Vigo with a score of (4-2) on Sunday evening, within the 12th round of La Liga, in the latter’s stronghold, the “Balaídos” stadium.
“Lewandowski” scored a hat-trick, and Lamine Yamal scored the fourth goal, and the goals came in the (10th, 37th, 45+4, 73rd) minutes, while Sergio Carreira and Borja Iglesias scored for Celta Vigo in the 11th and 43rd minutes.
With this victory, Barcelona raised its score to 28 points, only 3 points behind leaders Real Madrid, while Celta Vigo’s score froze at 13 points, in thirteenth place.
Lewandowski continues the challenge
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, “Lewandowski’s” career is very similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo, especially with regard to the great attention paid to maintaining physical fitness, and as they are among the most prominent goalscorers in football in the modern era.
“Lewandowski” gave a distinguished performance at the “Balaídos” stadium, which has always been lucky for him historically, as he scored a perfect hat-trick in only his fourth match as a starter in the Spanish League this season, with one goal from a penalty kick, another from a wonderful shot, and a third from a difficult ball while rising to a corner kick executed by Rashford.
Statistics indicate that “Lewandowski” has scored 7 goals from 19 shots in La Liga this season, with an amazing accuracy rate of 36.8%, and at a rate of one goal every 82 minutes, which confirms that he still guarantees a goal in almost every match.
These numbers reflect the Pole’s continued provision of great offensive value to the Catalan team, despite the injuries he suffered at the beginning of the season and his loss of a starting position in some matches.
The Pole seems more comfortable and confident this season, as he appeared in his last press conference in Bruges, where he smiled throughout and spoke about his commitment and concern for himself.
