In a statement made by Kremlin spokesman “Dmitry Peskov” during a press conference, he explained that “Moscow still adheres to its position that the war can end when Russia achieves its goals,” adding that his country “prefers to achieve this through political and diplomatic means.”
These statements from “Peskov” come as a reaction to what US President “Donald Trump” said on Friday, when he mentioned during his meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister: “I think we agree that the war will end in the not-too-distant future.”
Peskov also indicated that “the situation is currently stagnant, and this is not because of us,” blaming Ukraine for obstructing the peace process.
On the other hand, Kyiv and its European allies deny Russian accusations of obstructing peace efforts, and it should be noted that no direct negotiations have been held between Russia and Ukraine since July 23.
