This is the first time that camera resolution details have been explicitly mentioned, following rumors about Apple adopting “under-screen camera” technology in this foldable model. It is worth noting that some Android phones have previously used this technology, but with a limited resolution usually between 4 and 8 megapixels, which negatively affected image quality due to light passing through the screen layers.
The report indicates that Apple has developed a mechanism for light penetration and improved image processing, which allows for capturing more accurate images with clearer details compared to existing solutions in the market. However, analysts expect that Apple may have avoided adding other technologies such as LiDAR or optical stabilization, in order to maintain the size of the foldable device without a significant increase.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s estimates, the device is expected to come with a dual rear camera, in addition to two front cameras that work in open and folded modes.
As for the launch date, expectations vary, with some suggesting it will be in the fall of next year, while others point to a possible postponement until 2027, due to delays in finalizing the hinge design and some other essential elements in the device’s architecture.
