Drug enforcement units operating in the Syrian Desert region, on Tuesday, thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of Captagon pills destined for a neighboring country, and arrested the person involved in the smuggling operation while committing the crime.
The Syrian Interior Ministry announced in a statement, of which RT received a copy, that the smuggler, identified as “M. N.,” resorted to an innovative method of smuggling, using balloons equipped with advanced electronic devices to guide them across the border.
The ministry added that all tools and equipment used in the smuggling attempt were seized, and the smuggler was referred to the competent judicial authorities to take appropriate legal measures against him.
The Interior Ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing its continued “pursuit of drug dealers and promoters by all available means,” while stressing its commitment to combating this scourge and protecting society from its dangers.
