A startup specializing in neuroscience, called Matter Neuroscience, has developed a phone case weighing about 2.7 kilograms, which is approximately the weight of a 16-inch MacBook Pro, in order to reduce phone usage time by half.

This case is made of stainless steel and is designed to be heavy and difficult to install. It consists of two metal pieces that are fastened using a special screwdriver, making it not easy or quick to disassemble. The idea behind it is simple: make carrying the phone tiring, and addiction to it will automatically decrease.

The company explains that this design creates what it calls a “physical feedback loop against overuse,” where muscle fatigue encourages the user to stop using the device after a short period. In contrast, some saw this product as just a heavy joke, while others mocked it, saying that it “strengthens muscles more than it alleviates addiction.”

The price of this case starts at $210, while the price of the copper version, which is the heaviest, reaches $500. The project is currently on Kickstarter for crowdfunding, with the aim of raising $75,000, but it has so far only raised about $17,000.
