U.S. President Donald Trump continues his efforts to update the White House to reflect his personal taste, unveiling a new luxurious bathroom in the “Lincoln Bedroom” on Friday, featuring a marble and gold design.

Trump shared photos of the renovation process via his social media accounts, which showed the new bathroom with luxurious fixtures inspired by the style of his well-known hotels. He mentioned in his post that the old bathroom, with its green and white tiles, was “completely unsuitable.”

The photos reveal gold-plated fixtures, including the shower head and faucets, and walls and floor of white marble veined with gray, with a rear window overlooking the White House grounds, where a new $300 million ballroom is currently under construction on the site that was occupied by the East Wing for more than 120 years before it was demolished last week.

According to the White House Historical Association, the “Lincoln Bedroom” was named after the 16th President Abraham Lincoln in 1945 and is not part of the official state rooms, and therefore is not subject to the supervision of the Committee for the Preservation of the White House, which was established in 1964.

Trump also announced renovations to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, noting that the corroded exterior columns had been repainted with white enamel paint, describing the result as “unprecedentedly wonderful.”

These luxurious renovations come at a time when the federal government is facing a partial shutdown for the first month in a row due to funding disputes, while the shutdown threatens to halt food assistance to about 42 million Americans.
