Snap is working on adding new improvements and features for “+Snapchat” paid subscribers, in a move aimed at enhancing the user experience and providing more attractive customization options amid the intense competition in the world of social networks.
This step from the company comes in its relentless pursuit of attracting more users to subscribe to its paid services.
The new updates include expanding the scope of the “Bitmoji Pets” feature to enable users to design their virtual pets using artificial intelligence, in addition to providing custom backgrounds for collaborative and group chats. These additions come to complement the features currently available in “+Snapchat”.
Snap is betting on these new features to enhance user interaction and increase the number of subscribers to its paid service, especially in the face of competing platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
CEO Evan Spiegel has stated that the company is going through a “critical moment” and is striving to accelerate revenue growth and improve profit margins, after recording the slowest quarterly growth in more than a year.
Spiegel aims to transform direct revenue from “+Snapchat” into a sustainable growth engine that generates billions of dollars.
The number of “+Snapchat” subscribers has exceeded 16 million, which is more than double the number recorded in early 2024, noting that more than half of the subscribers are over 21 years old.
Data indicates that subscribers who take advantage of customization features enjoy retention rates that are more than 10% higher compared to other users.
“+Snapchat” product manager Swetha Damodharan said: “Our strategy is to improve what already works and double down on it, while exploring new opportunities.”
Among the new features, subscribers will be able to name their “Bitmoji Pet” animals and display them on their personal accounts. It is worth noting that “Bitmoji Pets” characters already appear next to “Bitmoji” images on the Snap Map feature and in individual conversations.
The “Bitmoji” feature allows users to create custom avatars that reflect their personality on the application.
