Following the success of “iPhone 17” phones in global markets, “iPhone 18” models face significant challenges.
Predictions indicate that the next generation will see a major upgrade in Random Access Memory (RAM), with an increase of up to 50% compared to the current “iphone 17” model, which is supposed to enhance smartphone performance and seamlessly support “Apple Intelligence” integration.
According to a report issued by “The Bell”, the current “iPhone 17” model comes with 8 GB of RAM, while “iPhone Air”, “iPhone 17 Pro” and “iPhone 17 Pro Max” phones feature 12 GB. This improvement is attributed to the efficiency of artificial intelligence processing in the device, and “Apple” is expected to offer the same type and capacity of Random Access Memory (RAM) in the “iPhone 18” series.
Reports indicate that “Apple” is in talks with “Samsung” to provide and increase the production of “LPDDR5X” RAM for the next generation of “iPhone” devices. The latest RAM technologies from “Samsung” come in 12 GB and 16 GB versions, which means that “iPhone 17” will be the only model equipped with 8 GB of RAM, as “iPhone 18” is scheduled to get 12 or even 16 GB.
“Apple” is in talks to provide it with larger Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM), which means a significant improvement in performance and artificial intelligence tools. However, these specifications remain mere expectations.
It appears that “Apple” has planned a different launch schedule for the 2026 models, as “iPhone Fold”, “iPhone 18 Pro” and “iPhone 18 Pro Max” phones are expected to be launched in September 2026, while standard “iPhone 18” and “iPhone 18e” phones may be launched in March 2027. Therefore, the basic model may be launched later according to the rumored new launch schedule. (“Al-Youm Al-Sabea”)
