The Al Habtoor Investment Group of the UAE would like to clarify regarding what is being circulated in some media outlets about unfulfilled pledges by the group in favor of the Syrian Development Fund, that this matter “has no basis in truth.”

The group, chaired by Emirati “Khalaf Al Habtoor,” issued a statement confirming that it has made significant humanitarian and development contributions to Syria in the past few weeks.

According to the statement, the group launched a package of community initiatives worth 10 million UAE dirhams, in cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Endowments and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in Syria. Two memoranda of understanding were also signed with these two entities with the aim of supporting the Grand Umayyad Mosque in Damascus and sponsoring low-income groups in society.

The statement indicated that the group recently announced the provision of 100,000 new school seats, with the aim of supporting the educational infrastructure in Syria, including schools in the most needy areas, in addition to providing modern educational equipment, in coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Education.
