His Excellency the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser El-Din, announced a historic and comprehensive decision aimed at fully covering the costs of bone marrow transplant operations in all hospitals, whether governmental or private. His Excellency affirmed that the Ministry of Health will cover all expenses related to these operations for patients who need them.
In a statement, Nasser El-Din explained that “these operations are among the most expensive, as their prices range between $30,000 and $60,000, and everyone who needs a bone marrow transplant will undergo this operation at the expense of the Ministry of Public Health.”
This announcement came during the Minister’s patronage of the reopening ceremony of the mental health unit at Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut, a step that the Minister praised and considered the result of close and constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Public Health and the supporting bodies of the health sector, with the aim of raising the level of services and expanding the scope of specialized centers.
In conclusion, Nasser El-Din stated: “Today, we reaffirm our commitment to hope, care, and humanity in our health system,” emphasizing the Ministry’s continued reform path aimed at achieving health justice and expanding the scope of support to include the most needy groups in society.
