The Israeli army announced today, Tuesday, a military operation targeting three Palestinian militants who were holed up inside a cave in the city of Jenin, in the northern West Bank.
The newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” quoted Israeli security sources as saying that “the strike targeted a cave from which three militants emerged who were planning an attack in the area.”
Reports indicated that Israeli forces used military bulldozers during the operation, while warplanes and drones flew in the surrounding airspace to provide cover.
In a joint statement issued by the Israeli army and the General Security Apparatus (Shin Bet), it was stated that “the security forces eliminated three militants during an offensive operation.”
The statement added that “earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli forces, with the participation of the Shin Bet and the Yamam unit, carried out a night operation in the village of Koud, which belongs to the Menashe Brigade, to arrest militants belonging to an armed group in the Jenin camp.”
The statement also explained that “during the operation, snipers from the Yamam unit spotted an armed group inside a cave and opened fire on them, killing two and wounding a third, before the latter was later killed after the area was surrounded by the Israeli Air Force.”
