It is essential to pay attention to the “USB” port you choose on your computer, as it is not just a minor detail but significantly affects the performance and efficiency of connected devices.

In desktop computers, the rear ports connected directly to the motherboard offer higher data transfer speeds and better stability compared to the front ports or those in “USB” hubs, making them the ideal choice for external storage drives or any device that requires high speed.

The same applies to laptops, considering that all ports are on the sides and connected directly to the motherboard, so the port type becomes the main determinant of performance, not its location.

Experts advise checking the port type before using it, whether it is “USB 2.0”, “USB 3.x”, or “USB-C”, because newer versions offer faster transfer speeds and greater energy efficiency. It is also preferable not to connect devices that consume a lot of power through “USB” hubs unless they are of high quality.
