Lebanon Today

In a disturbing development, Lebanon has witnessed a series of operations in the past 24 hours targeting prominent leaders in Hezbollah, in an escalation considered the most extensive since the beginning of the tension on the border between Hezbollah and Israel.

Sources in Israeli Channel 14 reported that the intelligence service is closely monitoring developments in Lebanon, confirming the continuation of operations “as long as Hezbollah continues to threaten the northern borders and Israeli citizens.”

In just one day, four operations targeted five members of the party in separate areas within Lebanese territory, as part of what Israel described as an “effort to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities in the south.”

The following are the names of some of the leaders who were targeted:

Zein Al-Abidin Hussein Fatouni:

The Israeli army announced that Fatouni was a leader in the “Anti-Armor Unit” within the “Radwan Force,” explaining that it “targeted him while he was trying to rebuild military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.”

Army spokesman Avichay Adraee wrote on the “X” platform that “the army targeted a commander in the anti-armor missile system in the Radwan Unit of Hezbollah.”

Mohammad Akram Arabiya:

One of the leaders of the special “Radwan Force,” Israel stated that he was involved in efforts to rehabilitate the party’s combat capabilities and contribute to the restoration of its infrastructure. He was targeted in an air strike carried out by the Israeli Air Force in the Qlaiaa area of southern Lebanon.

Abd Mahmoud Al-Sayed:

He was targeted in the Naqoura area, which has been a major center for party activities in recent weeks.

Ali Hussein Al-Moussawi:

The Israeli army announced that it targeted him in the Bekaa region, describing him as a “weapons smuggler and dealer of combat equipment in the ranks of Hezbollah,” and added that he was “involved in purchasing weapons and transporting them from Syria to Lebanon, and played an important role in the process of arming the party and rebuilding its military capabilities.”

These operations come amid increasing Israeli pressure on Lebanon.
