Israel’s “Channel 12” reported on Sunday evening that the Israeli army is not currently making any preparations for a possible escalation with Hezbollah.
The channel clarified that in the wake of “false messages” spreading during the day urging residents of the northern border areas to prepare for a possible escalation with Hezbollah, the Israeli army confirmed that “there is no unusual event.”
The channel indicated that against the background of rumors about preparations for escalation, including instructions attributed to unofficial sources urging residents to store food and basic equipment, the Israeli army clarified that “there are no special preparations on the Lebanese border.”
The channel quoted the army spokesman as saying: “Operations against Hezbollah elements in Lebanese territory are continuing, and two elements have been eliminated for their involvement in smuggling weapons and restoring the party’s military capabilities.”
In a notable development, Lebanon has witnessed a series of assassinations of prominent Hezbollah leaders in the past twenty-four hours, in operations described as the most extensive since the beginning of the border escalation between Hezbollah and Israel.
Israel’s “Channel 14” reported that intelligence agencies are closely monitoring developments in Lebanon, and confirmed that operations will continue as long as Hezbollah continues to threaten the northern borders and Israeli settlements.
The Lebanese arena has witnessed four separate assassinations in four different areas within the country in recent days, resulting in the martyrdom of five members of the party, in the context of what Israel claims are efforts aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities in the south.
