In Protest of Court Ruling: Blocking the Damour-Beirut Highway

This evening, a group of young people from the Damour area closed the coastal highway linking Damour and Beirut.

This action came as an expression of their dissatisfaction and rejection of a judicial decision issued in the case of the murder of the young man “ Khalil Bou Murad,” who is from Damour.

Information received from the site indicates that protesters blocked the road using burning tires and iron barriers, leading to severe traffic congestion in both directions.

Elements of the Lebanese army and internal security forces arrived at the scene and worked to gradually reopen the road and secure traffic.

It is worth noting that the case of the murder of the young man “Khalil Bou Murad” dates back to an incident that occurred several months ago in the Damour area, and at the time it sparked a wave of outrage among the residents who demanded the most severe penalties for those involved in the crime.

The recent judicial decision has aroused the dissatisfaction of the victim’s relatives and the town’s people, as they considered it unfair and does not achieve the desired justice.
