In an unfortunate incident, a town in the district of Donniyeh was shaken by a tragic accident, where an innocent child was hit by a stray shotgun pellet from a hunting rifle, causing him to lose one of his precious eyes while returning from his school day.
In detail, local sources reported that the child, whose age did not exceed the fingers of one hand, was on his way home in a neighborhood of the area, carrying his small schoolbag, when a stray bullet pierced his slender body, launched from the hands of neighboring hunters, settling directly in his small face, causing a very serious injury to his eye.
Immediately, the ambulance teams responded to the call and rushed the injured child to the nearest hospital, where he underwent urgent and intensive surgeries, while the competent security forces began their extensive investigations to uncover the identity of the shooter and determine the circumstances of the horrific incident.
This painful incident strongly brings back to mind the phenomenon of indiscriminate hunting prevalent in the mountainous and northern regions, where incidents of injuries resulting from stray bullets are repeated, amid increasing demands from the people for the need to tighten control over these dangerous practices and hold violators accountable, in order to preserve the safety of innocent citizens and protect their lives.
